Naples, baby gang on a scooter to Piazza Dante: residents in revolt send new video complaints to deputy Borrelli. "Unacceptable lack of controls".
Piazza Dante remains hostage to baby gangs on scooters, who race around the pedestrian area between carousels, speed races and wheelies. Exasperated residents and shopkeepers send new video complaints to the deputy of the Green Left Alliance Francesco Emilio Borrelli.
The scenes are always the same: dozens of scooters speeding out of control, often with three or more kids on the saddle, without helmets, among pedestrians and tables of bars and restaurants.
“We are faced with yet another Saturday of madness where a handful of people are allowed to baby delinquents to ride around the pedestrian area with impunity on large-engine scooters, harassing passers-by and endangering the safety of families and children who have the misfortune of passing through Piazza Dante.
The total lack of controls by the police is unacceptable despite the square being crowded with people. Clear evidence that this emergency continues to be seriously underestimated. Spot control measures are absolutely useless, if not counterproductive.
Legality must be restored to Piazza Dante and a clear signal must be given that there is no room for street criminals, hooligans and baby gangs. For the umpteenth time I receive images unworthy of a city like Naples and I wonder what serious thing must happen to push those in charge to guard a square that has become the symbol of the impotence of the institutions in the face of the arrogance of the baby gangs”. This is Borrelli's harsh comment.
