During the night between Tuesday 26 and Wednesday 27 November, the Carabinieri of the Maiori station conducted an operation that led to the seizure of a large quantity of illegal pyrotechnic material in the municipality of Minori, on the Amalfi Coast. The explosives seemed to be intended for the vigil celebrations in honor of Santa Trofimena, the patron saint of the city.
Among the material found were homemade paper bombs and 73 fireworks, many of which were made in China and lacked the necessary safety certifications. Most of the items had been cleverly hidden under some boats on the beach, probably to evade controls and inspections.

During the operation, the military stopped a young local minor, found in possession of other illegal firecrackers. The boy was reported to the Court for the minors of Salerno for possession and use of unauthorized explosive material.
Control activities will continue in the coming days to ensure a peaceful atmosphere during religious celebrations and prevent incidents related to the improper use of explosives.

I don't know if it's right to block celebrations but it's important that safety comes first. Let's hope that the Carabinieri operation will help prevent accidents, especially for young people who don't know the risks.
