The eighth edition of BookSophia, the festival of Classics, is ready to begin in Massa Lubrense from November 21st to 23rd. The event will be held in the Ancient Cathedral of Santa Maria delle Grazie from 9:00 am to 13:00 pm, focusing on important questions regarding the classical roots of the modern world. The festival will revolve around three main themes.

Festival Themes

"The law" will be the first theme analyzed, with particular attention to the Latin world and the dilemmas that arise between the law of the heart and that of the state.

This will be followed by "paideia," the Greek ideal of "becoming a man," inviting participants to reflect on the cultural heritage to be preserved and passed on. Finally, the "codex," a symbol of civilization, raises questions about God, humanity, and the world.

Student Involvement

The festival, through the BookSophia Student Manifesto, stimulates the active involvement of students. At the end of each session, they will be able to express criticisms and ideas via a QR code, thus participating in the dialogue.

Local Support

The Massa Lubrense municipal administration enthusiastically supports the initiative. The deputy mayor and the councilor for culture describe the festival as an educational project that strengthens their collaboration with schools. They applaud the idea of transforming the town into a cultural hub, where people of all ages and backgrounds can meet.
