A heavy blow was inflicted on the Mallardo clan, a well-known Camorra association operating in Giugliano in Campania. Those arrested were organizing new criminal strategies in view of the Christmas holidays.
Carabinieri officers from the Giugliano Company executed a precautionary detention order issued by the preliminary investigations judge of the Court of Naples at the request of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate against high-ranking members of the clan accused of participating in a mafia-style criminal organization.

Among those arrested is Biagio Micillo, 68, a former prisoner, considered the clan's key figure with responsibility for strategic direction. Domenico Chiariello, known as "Mimmuccio," 41, Micillo's nephew, was also arrested.
Another suspect, identified as a trusted man of one of the clan leaders, was tasked with organizing meetings and gatherings, while the other two arrested were responsible for carrying out the illegal activities.
