A solemn ceremony marked this morning at the Barracks Brigadier MOVM Salvo D'Acquisto, headquarters of the Carabinieri Legion Command "Campania", where the Division General Canio Giuseppe The Gala, Commander of the Legion, presented commendations to 57 military Carabinieri.

The ceremony was attended by the Provincial Commanders of Naples, Caserta, Salerno, of the Naples Groups, Castello di Cisterna and of the Territorial Department of Vallo della Lucania, as well as relatives of the awardees. Among the awards, 17 extraordinary operations stand out, including the arrest of an international fugitive in Greece and the rescue of a little girl thanks to timely first aid maneuvers in a school in the province of Naples.

A particularly touching moment was dedicated to the memory of the Marshal Major Giuseppe Franco Parisi, who died prematurely about a year ago. His widow and children received posthumous commendation for the brilliant investigation conducted by the Marshal within the Maddaloni Company.

In his speech, General La Gala emphasized the role of the Carabiniere as a pillar of the community, recalling that their work often requires personal sacrifices, including time away from family affections. "The Carabinieri are always at the side of citizens, from the fight against crime to providing assistance in the most difficult moments," said La Gala, praising the daily commitment of the Campania military.

A heroic farewell

The ceremony experienced a moment of great emotion with the farewell to the Brigadier Mario Michele Conte, who today, at the age of 60, has reached the well-deserved retirement. Only a few days before retirement, Conte had distinguished himself for his heroic intervention in the collapse of a building in Saviano, confirming the spirit of service that distinguishes the force.

“His gesture is an example for all of us,” General La Gala emphasized. The spontaneous applause of his colleagues and the Brigadier's tears as he left the courtyard sealed an authentic moment of emotion, a symbol of the indissoluble bond between the Carabinieri and the community they serve with dedication.
