Naples. "For months, we've been calling for a discussion with the institutions to address the issues surrounding the Maximall Pompei affair, ahead of the reopening to the public. As a trade union, we've repeatedly expressed the need to sign a protocol that promotes compliance with national collective bargaining agreements, legality and transparency in procurement and subcontracting, and that puts workplace safety at the forefront."
This is the statement from the CGIL Naples and Campania following the accident that occurred this morning at the construction site of the Maximall shopping center in Pompeii, which involved a 29-year-old worker injured when a roof collapsed.
"To date - the union writes in the note - we have not received any response, suffice it to say that we have from the newspapers the list of companies that will open inside the shopping center. We believe - concludes the CGIL Naples and Campania - that, in light of this morning's accident, it is urgent to convene a meeting with the mayors of Torre Annunziata and Castellammare di Stabia, involved in the Area Contract, the Campania Region, and the Prefect of Naples.
