For the murder of innocent young pizza maker Francesco Pio Maimone, Public Prosecutor Antonella Fratello has requested a life sentence for Francesco Pio Valda, the alleged killer who opened fire on the night of March 20, 2023, during an argument over dirty shoes at the Mergellina chalets, striking the young man from Pianura, who was with friends and had nothing to do with the fight.
During the prosecution's closing speech, which lasted about two hours, the PM reconstructed the tragic event: an argument sparked by a drink spilled on a shoe degenerated into an indiscriminate shooting. valda, according to the prosecution, fired blindly into the crowd, regardless of the presence of families with children, fatally wounding the young Maimone.
In addition to Valda, the following are accused, to varying degrees, of aiding and abetting and possession of a weapon: the alleged killer's sister, Giuseppina Valda, her uncle Giuseppe Perna, her grandmother Giuseppina Niglio, Pasquale Saiz, Alessandra Clemente and Salvatore Mancini. For them, the PM has requested sentences ranging from 3 to 8 and a half years of imprisonment.
The trial is still ongoing and the next hearings will be the turn of the defendants' defense.
