Avellino – Major operation by the NAS Carabinieri in a salami factory in Baianese, where 15 tons of pork and meat products were seized. During the checks, the military found serious health and hygiene violations: the products, partly frozen and partly vacuum-packed, were stored in promiscuous conditions that compromised food safety.
Of particular note is the seizure of 84 kilos of cracklings labelled as "own production", but actually coming from a company in the province of Napoli, thus configuring a fraud against consumers. The investigations also revealed serious work irregularities. Eight workers were identified, all without regular contracts. Among them, five foreigners were reported for illegal entry and residence in Italy.
Following the violations found, the closure of the salami factory was ordered. The owner of the business was reported to the judicial authorities for the use of illegal labor and for violations of workplace safety regulations. At the same time, he was given administrative sanctions for a total of 200 thousand euros. The overall value of the seized goods, including the meat and equipment, is estimated at around seven million euros.
