The Municipality of Cicerale, in the province of Salerno, has announced the first edition of the poetry contest entitled "Poetry under the Mistletoe," an initiative aimed at promoting culture during the Christmas season.
The contest offers participants the opportunity to freely express their creativity, with no age or residency restrictions, with the aim of fostering dialogue between different generations and sensibilities. The theme of the poems is open to all participants, giving them a wide scope for expression.
The rules of the competition
Participants will be divided into two categories: Youth (aged 10 to 18) and Adults (aged 18 and over).

The jury and the prizes
A jury composed of literary experts, including poets, professors, authors, journalists, and critics, will select the best works. The winners will be announced during the awards ceremony scheduled for late December, as part of the "Christmas in Cicerale – Christmas Markets" celebrations. Three main prizes will be awarded for each category, as well as special mentions for works of particular merit.
Culture as a community glue
The Municipality of Cicerale, through Councilor for Culture Chiara Valva, has expressed its intention to support local culture and talent with this initiative. "Every poem is a story, and Christmas in Cicerale will provide the perfect stage to tell it," the councilor emphasizes.
