Naples. Shoes, those damned designer shoes. A status symbol for the offspring of the Camorra. And what happens if someone dirties them? Unfortunately, in Naples and its province, people die. It happened in March two years ago to Francesco Pio Maimone in Mergellina, and it happened again last week to Santo Romano in San Sebastiano al Vesuvio.
And the thing to think about is that the two killers were friends, as demonstrated by the photos and videos circulating on social media in recent days. It's a sort of unwritten script, but one to be recited every time you go out at night and visit the hot spots of youth nightlife: you have to be armed.
“They stepped on my shoes, they are Versace, I paid 500 euros for them and I got angry”, this sentence released to the magistrates in his confession by Luigi DM is enough to have a precise picture of the scenario in which the investigators are moving in this investigation.
This is the sad truth that emerges from the confession reports of 17-year-old Luigi DM, originally from Barra, published today by Repubblica and Il Mattino. The 17-year-old, for whom the investigating judge ordered detention in the Nisida institute, confirmed that the fight was triggered by an involuntary stomp on those designer shoes that the unemployed and idle boy, who receives a disability pension, had paid 500 euros for.
Let's not forget his subsequent attempt at justification, which his lawyer Luca Raviele has been touting all over Italian TV these days, namely that his car was hit by a stone and that Santo Romano and his friends tried to attack him, even slapping him, and one of them finally pulled out a knife.
And then he defended himself by taking out the gun he had on him and firing three times: killing Santo Romano, grazing a friend and missing a third by just a few centimetres.
Luigi DM had shortly before Santo's murder had pointed the gun under the chin of another boy
And that gun, as emerges from the precautionary order signed by investigating judge Anita Polito who confirmed the arrest of the minor urgently ordered by prosecutor Ettore La Ragione, the baby killer from Barra had also pulled it out about an hour earlier, again in that square in San Sebastiano al Vesuvio, and had pointed it under the chin of another boy with whom he had had another argument.
The baby killer then said he went to Baretti di Chiaia and dropped the gun in the crowd and broke and threw the phone card into a drain. A contradiction with the fact that he says he didn't realize he had killed a person.
Why did he throw away the gun and the phone card? Instead, as the investigations show, he already knew what he had done and a few hours later someone warned him that the police were looking for him.
According to the investigating judge of the Naples Juvenile Court, these behaviors demonstrate "a lucidity and cunning that are difficult to reconcile with his alleged incapacity to understand and decide." Furthermore, the judge continues in the order, the minor is associated with "criminal circles capable of supplying the weapon."
For the investigating judge “Any other less afflictive measure is absolutely unsuitable”
In justifying the precautionary measure, the investigating judge wrote: "Any other less punitive measure is absolutely unsuitable, given the circumstances and the family's evident inability to contain their son's deviant tendencies."

Is there really a need to resolve disputes and disagreements with violence? It seems incredible that we will go to such lengths over such trivial matters.
