A political upheaval has erupted in the municipality of Teverola, where prominent figures in the local administration have been arrested, including two former mayors, Biagio Lusini and Tommaso Barbato, placed under house arrest on charges of corruption and illegal land development.
The investigation, coordinated by magistrates Cesare Sirignano and Patrizia Dongiacomo, also implicated other local officials, including Pasquale De Floris, former group leader in the city council, and Gennaro Pitocchi, a technician with positions in several municipalities.
Investigators believe Lusini played a key role, acting as an intermediary between administrators and entrepreneurs to facilitate the granting of building permits related to Parco Iris, a residential complex now seized along with another building on Via Fratelli Bandiera.
According to the prosecution, Lusini would have also influenced Barbato's mandate, exercising control over the technical office of the Municipality of teverola, where, as investigators claim, only officials willing to favor the interests of entrepreneurs and builders were chosen for the role.

The investigation, which also involves other figures such as Pasquale Buonpane, Angelo Morra, and several former municipal managers and technicians, also uncovers allegations that Lusini handed over sums of money received from businessmen to Barbato. The investigation sheds light on an alleged corruption scheme that severely influenced the urban planning management of the municipality of Teverola, with impacts also on the current administration.
The Carabinieri of the Aversa Territorial Unit also executed four residence bans on former opposition city councilor Pasquale Buonpane, businessman Angelo Morra, Teresa La Palomenta, Pitocchi's partner, and the woman's son, Alessandro Pisani.
The investigation by deputies Cesare Sirignano and Patrizia Dongiacomo also includes seven other suspects, including former municipal councilor Biagio Pezzella, who resigned from his position on the municipal council but not from his position as city councilor when the investigation became known in early October; Massimiliano Schiavone, head of the municipal finance department; Davide Vargas, former director of Urban Planning in Teverola; and builder Giovanni Miniero.
