Arienzo. A delegation of union leaders from CON.SI.PE, the confederation of prison police unions, visited the "Gennaro De Angelis" prison in Arienzo.
For the vice president CON.SI.PE,Louis Castaldo, the Arienzo prison "is a jewel in the crown of the penitentiary system, directed by Dr. Anna Laura De Fusco, who has made a significant contribution to the treatment and management of inmates. The inmates' commitment and positive response have been evident."
At the same time, the perception of scrupulous control, order and discipline emerges in the presence of the deputy commander of the Penitentiary Police, Dr. Michele Pitti. The CON.SI.PE delegation included the vice president, the national secretary Francesco De Curtis and the regional secretary of Campania, Tommaso De Lia, who visited all the workplaces, as well as the carefully maintained external areas.
For unionists, the Arienzo prison system should be taken as a model for the Penitentiary Administration and the Government. The only sore point, as is evident in all Campania prisons, is the shortage of Penitentiary Police personnel; in this specific case, the deficit is 30%, and most are very elderly or at the end of their careers. According to the union leader CON.SI.PE. Vincenzo Santoriello the combination of safety and treatment is essential; where there is no safety, there can be no treatment.
