Father Maurizio Patriciello, the parish priest of Caivano, on the outskirts of Naples, speaking this morning in Pistoia at the conference 'Building proposals of hope: schools and the territory facing the educational emergency', organized by the school office of the diocese of Pistoia.
"There's not a day I don't spend in a school," he added, "not just in Campania, but in other regions as well. I think we're now spending our best hours with students; we have to start with them."
"There's a climate of violence," he continued. "Unfortunately, the examples these kids are being shown in other parts of the world, with these two fratricidal wars (Ukraine and Palestine, ed.) being fought before our eyes and under our noses, are a terrible example. Therefore, we must be even more committed to making these kids understand that we all need to live peacefully, and to do that, we must respect the law and love one another."

It is true that adults need to be good role models, but kids need to do more too. You can't just blame parents, there are many outside influences that play a big role. School needs to be a safe place.
