The prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, expressed his confidence in the possibility of starting a beatification process for Don Peppe Diana, the parish priest of Casal di Principe murdered by the Camorra in 1994.
During the naming ceremony of the new hall on the ground floor of the headquarters of the Campania Regional Council, dedicated to Don Peppe Diana, the prefect declared: “Don Peppe Diana is the symbol of the redemption of this land and of Casal di Principe. I hope that this initiative of a secular nature can also be followed by an initiative of a religious nature. If there are the conditions, evaluated by the bishop of Aversa, to proceed with the eventual process of beatification, I am very confident that all this can happen soon, obviously within the autonomy of the local Church.”
Di Bari praised the initiative of the Regional Council, calling it “a beautiful and very important gesture,” underlining the importance of remembering and paying homage to a figure who represented the fight against organized crime.
