A 61-year-old woman from Altavilla Silentina died this morning at the Maria Santissima Addolorata hospital in Eboli. She had contracted tetanus over a month ago and was admitted to the intensive care unit. Despite medical efforts, the patient died.
Investigations to determine the source of the tetanus infection continue. It is suspected that the woman may have contracted the disease while working on the farm or after a recent dental visit. Authorities are still investigating.
