The Archaeological Park of Ercolano launches a new educational initiative aimed primarily at schools for the 2024-2025 school year. This offer was developed in collaboration with Coopculture and is designed to promote understanding of the historical and cultural features of Ercolano, a UNESCO site since 1997.
### Educational Programs and Inclusive Services
The educational programs introduce a variety of activities, including soft skills courses and a video game called “Lost in Herculaneum”. There are new apps for children and community workshops in collaboration with the association Variabile K. The initiative takes into account visitors with special needs, offering access to children with autism, visually impaired, blind and people with motor disabilities. The Park’s website has also been updated to ensure more inclusive access, making it easier for users with visual and cognitive disabilities to navigate.
### Event “Herculaneum of the Peoples”
The next event in the “Ercolano dei Popoli” program will be held on November 24, on the occasion of the International Day of Children's Rights and Adolescence. The event includes a guided tour focused on themes related to childhood in the Roman world and the relationship between school and family. Guided tours with variable themes will continue every last Sunday of the month until February 2025.
According to the Park Director, Sirano, ancient Herculaneum offers a unique opportunity to create personalized learning experiences, putting the needs of visitors at the center. The initiative with Coopculture ranges from activities for children to experiential visits for students, encouraging critical thinking and collaboration.
The visits of the “Ercolano dei Popoli” program are part of the entrance ticket and require reservation, to be made through the Coopculture website or directly at the Park ticket office.
