Vitulazio. A new episode of domestic violence has shocked the community of Vitulazio. A 76-year-old man was arrested by the Carabinieri on charges of domestic abuse against his 74-year-old wife. The woman, injured and confined to her home, was found in inhumane conditions.
The alarm was raised yesterday afternoon when the victim's sister, who had also been attacked by the man, decided to break the silence and seek help from law enforcement. Fearful for the fate of her sister, whom she hadn't been able to contact for days, she went to the woman's home, where she was greeted by a violent attack.
When the Carabinieri arrived at the scene, they found the 74-year-old woman in critical condition, bedridden, and terrified. She said she had been subjected to violence for years, but had never found the courage to report it. The last incident, on October 24th, left her bedridden due to a back injury caused by a violent fall.
The arrested man was placed under house arrest, but the incident leaves a deep sense of dismay in the community. The Vitulazio episode is a warning not to underestimate the warning signs and to pay attention to cases of domestic violence, often hidden by an apparent tranquility.
