The wound to the head, the blood dripping down to the right eyebrow, another abrasion on the left cheek and a mark on the neck. Among the documents of the investigation that sees Mary Rosaria Boccia accused of violence against a political body, a second photo appears.
This one portrays the former Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano, and it was taken by himself: he is in the bathroom, with one hand bloody and the other holding his cell phone to document the wound he had just suffered. “On July 17, 2024, Boccia attacked me, causing the wounds I documented,” writes Sangiuliano in the complaint that gave rise to the investigation against the entrepreneur of Pompei.
“We should check the date on which she received the stitches,” replies the woman guest on Piazza Pulita, implying that she is ready to contest this accusation as well. “I am very tempted to speak, but I can’t,” she adds.
In fact, for a few days now, Boccia tries to clarify some news that have recently emerged. She denied, for example, the interview in which her ex-husband claimed that she denied him the divorce, and she also denied other accusations, especially in the media, according to which she was a sort of stalker of another ex.
But these are not the aspects on which the investigation focuses. While the Court of Ministers and the Court of Auditors investigate the expenses possibly incurred by Sangiuliano for Boccia, the Rome Public Prosecutor's Office is trying to verify the facts reported by the former minister. The story began "after the end of the extramarital relationship with Sangiuliano", that is, when Boccia learned that "the draft of the appointment decree signed by the minister had been blocked by his will".
Sangiuliano reported that Boccia had “simulated her presence in places he privately frequented” and “published, without her consent, private photos and manipulated photos that portrayed her inside the Ministry”. Furthermore, the former minister claims that the woman had “gradually spread news to the media and on social media about their relationship, about her relations with the Ministry of Culture and about her access to confidential documents, always alluding to the availability of other compromising information for him”.
It is in this context that the two photos of the wound in the files are placed. One is already known, while the other was initially published by La Verità. The wound was allegedly inflicted during a meeting in Sanremo. The former minister presented the images, filed a complaint and has already responded to an interrogation. Boccia, on the other hand, is still waiting to be heard by the Prosecutor's Office and, for the moment, prefers not to comment.
