Last Saturday, in Giffoni Valle Piana, a tragedy occurred that was narrowly avoided. A two-year-old boy, while playing in Piazza Mercato, risked choking because of a piece of bread stuck in his throat.
The parents' desperate cries attracted the attention of passersby and, fortunately, of Mayor Antonio Giuliano. The mayor, in addition to being an administrator, is also a nurse. Quickly and calmly, he performed the Heimlich maneuver on the little boy, unblocking his airway and saving his life.
Thanks to his prompt action and preparation, the child was rescued from a gravely dangerous situation. This episode highlights the importance of knowing life-saving procedures and acting decisively in an emergency. Mayor Giuliano has proven himself a true hero, a role model for the community.
