Naples. Since yesterday morning, social media has been flooded with comments, photos and memories of Santo Romano, the 19-year-old footballer from Casoria killed last night while defending a friend during a trivial argument over a dirty shoe by a 17-year-old from Barra in the square of San Sebastiano al Vesuvio.

"This city gives and takes away from you, today it took away a son from us because Santo Romano was loved by everyone. You can't accept not going home after a fun night with friends and girlfriend because today you can kill so easily and this can't happen in a civilized society!

You had been protecting the goal of the first team for 4 years with commitment, sacrifice and dedication, you fell and got up again, you got injured and reacted with great determination now I ask you to protect all of us because it will be very hard to metabolize this enormous loss. You will always be my number 1”.

So the mister says goodbye Holy Roman, the 19-year-old goalkeeper of Asd Micri killed in San Sebastiano al Vesuvio over a trivial argument.

“Tragic news, news that shakes you and overwhelms you as if we had been catapulted into a nightmare – writes the Santo Romano club on Facebook – A son Micri, a loyal and always available friend, a good boy as an example for everyone: from his teammates to all the people who knew him. His skin and his heart have always worn our colors. You have been an example of life and courage.

Asd Micri: “You were an example of life and courage”

We will always remember the love and passion you gave us in all these years spent together. We want to think that you wanted to give us another lesson. In pain as humans able to tune into the pain of others, and it pushes us to reflect, to question ourselves, to search for meaning in the loss. It was an honor to have you in our family and you leave a pain and an unfillable void. Goodbye Santino... we will continue to love you”.

There are many sports associations that are saying goodbye to the 19-year-old, practically all the Campania ASDs. The Emanuele Troise Football School "is united in the deep sorrow of the Romano family and the Micri company, for the tragic death of the very young Santo". And implores: "That someone stop these beasts...".

“Ciao Goalkeeper”, greet him the president of CR Campania FIGC LND Carmine Zigarelli, the Asd Academy Valle dell'Orco, while the Asd Barone Calcio company writes: “Ciao Santo… forgive us all!”.

On social media, they remember him as a “boy loved by everyone, with a big heart”. His is a death that makes people angry because of its absurdity and there are those who blame a “completely absent State”.

The memory of his school

The Montessori Institute of Alfonso Fiumarelli also remembered the young footballer: “We are immensely sorry and saddened by this terrible news. Santo was one of our students, enrolled for the first time at 2 years old and attended our Institute until the 5th grade of primary school. You have always been a good student, always sociable, polite and calm. We join in the pain of the family and send you a big hug wherever you are. May the Lord welcome you into his arms”.
