The increase in road accidents in city streets, especially near schools, is a cause for great concern. The alarm was raised by Nino Simeone, president of the Infrastructure, Mobility and Civil Protection Commission of the City Council, who underlined the need for urgent intervention to protect pedestrian safety.
“Every day we see accidents in various neighborhoods, especially near school buildings. It is an alarming situation that requires immediate measures and adequate funding for pedestrian safety”Said Simeon in a note. Despite the current shortage of financial resources, Simeone said that the lack of funds “cannot be an excuse for inaction.”
For this reason, he announced his intention to request the allocation of at least 500.000 euros in the municipal budget for the construction of new raised pedestrian crossings in the most dangerous road sections, both primary and secondary, in all the neighborhoods of Naples. “Road safety is an issue that concerns everyone and must be a priority”, added Simeone, urging to allocate concrete resources to theRoad Infrastructure Area andNeapolitan company Mobility to ensure greater protection for citizens.
