The Castellammare di Stabia International Sports Film Festival returns from November 25th to 30th, now in its third edition. This event promises to inspire emotion and reflection, showcasing 149 films from 36 countries across all continents, all sharing the common denominator of resilience, inclusion, and sporting challenges.

During the six days of the event, which will be held at the “Supercinema” in Castellammare, the 36 finalists selected by the jury will be screened, with particular attention to current issues such as racism, life stories related to sport, personal and family dramas, but also hope and redemption through sports practice. The morning screenings will be dedicated to school students, while in the afternoon and evening there will be alternating films, debates and meetings with prestigious guests.

The festival will open with a series of screenings on themes ranging from inclusion to sports for the disabled, including life stories and sporting successes. On Tuesday, November 26, one of the most anticipated events will be the meeting on the theme “It’s not just about winning: sport creates the future. Stories of resilience and inclusion”. A moment of reflection in which Paralympic athletes such as Angela Procida, Vincenzo Boni, Mariangela Correale, Giusy Sbaglio and Claudio Fusaro will participate.

Cinema as a bridge between cultures and stories

Wednesday, November 27th will be football day, with the screening of the documentary film "Deu Ci Seu," which will recount the 1997 play-off between Cagliari and Piacenza, one of the most thrilling matches in Italian football history. Former Piacenza coach Bortolo Mutti will also be present, retracing those historic moments. Additionally, prime time will feature two short films related to the Napoli-Inter clash for the 2025 Scudetto, focusing on Federico Dimarco and Juan Jesus.

Another event not to be missed will be the screening, on Thursday 28 November, of the documentary film "Romeo Menti, the Granata winger with the lily in his heart", which recounts the life and career of the former Grande Torino player, a symbol of hope and rebirth in post-war Italy. Guests for the evening will include Juve Stabia president Andrea Langella, former sporting director Gigi Pavarese, and actor Gianfranco Gallo.

The festival is not limited to just screening films, but also offers opportunities for further study. On Friday, November 29, at the Hotel Stabia, there will be a round table discussion “Stories without borders, when sport and cinema unite distant worlds,” which will see the participation of numerous guests from the world of sport and cinema.

An international and inclusive festival

On Saturday 30 November, the awards ceremony will close the festival, after an afternoon dedicated to three free workshops linked to the world of cinema: “Sports photography” with Giovanni Somma, “The role of the film agent” with Marianna de Martino, and “The profession of the casting director” with Davide Zurolo, Nastro d'Argento for the film L'immortale.

Il International Sports Film Festival is an event that celebrates sport and cinema as tools for unity and inclusion. With productions from all over the world, including Nepal, Austria, Germany, Russia, United States, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, China, France and many others, the festival has established itself as a reference event for sports cinema enthusiasts.

The event, conceived by the Pragma Association and directed by journalist Nicola D'Auria and director Ciro Sorrentino, is supported by the Campania Region and the Campania Region Film Commission. After three editions, the event has consolidated its position among film festivals, confirming its position as a celebration of the value of sport as a vehicle for change and growth.
