On the sidelines of the 3-1 defeat against France, Italy's coach Luciano Spalletti did not hide his disappointment to the microphones of Rai Sport. A match that started uphill and was never really under control for the Azzurri, who had to deal with a solid and implacable France on decisive occasions.
"If you go in and concede a goal straight away from a set piece, it becomes difficult," Spalletti made his debut, referring to Rabiot's initial goal after just four minutes.

The Italian coach lucidly analysed the key moments of the match: "At 2-1, it seemed like there was more balance and we could control it, but then they scored the third goal and closed down. At that point, it became difficult to find space." Spalletti pointed the finger at the performance of the central department, highlighting how the difficulties arose above all in the construction phase: "What caused us the most problems was the lack of clarity in our midfield play. We allowed them to close down and limit our attacking options. We needed more quality in possession; we weren't good at finding space."
Despite the defeat, the coach did not want to make a drama out of it and tried to look at the bigger picture with optimism: "The overall result is definitely positive. We've seen the boys' commitment and some good things. This defeat creates some problems, but it shouldn't take away the confidence we've gained."

It's true, the match didn't go as we expected, but we have to look forward and continue to work hard to improve.
