The Cervantes Institute commemorates Don Pedro Téllez Girón, viceroy of Sicily and Naples

The Instituto Cervantes in Naples has launched a series of events dedicated to Don Pedro Téllez Girón, coinciding with the 400th anniversary of his death. The initiative, the result of collaboration between several Italian academic and cultural institutions, aims to celebrate the renowned viceroy of Sicily and Naples.

The commemoration includes a series of international conferences entitled "Don Pedro Téllez Girón, generoso, pio y valiente".

### Stages of the Conference in Naples

The first stage of the conference is scheduled in Naples on November 14 and 15, 2024.

This event will feature Italian and Spanish experts, who will offer insights into the viceroy's life and work. The sessions on November 14th will take place at the Fondazione Real Monte Manso di Scala and the Teatro di Corte of the Royal Palace, focusing on Osuna's role as viceroy. The following day, the conference will move to the Sala Pagliara of the Suor Orsola Benincasa University. There, his cultural and literary contributions will be examined. Among the participants will be prominent academics who will discuss the historical and political events of Osuna's time.

### Next Appointments in Catania

The conference series will then move to Catania on November 21st and 22nd. These meetings will continue the analysis of the European dimension of Don Pedro's management and the historical context between Italy and Spain.
