Caivano. "It's not fair. Fortuna deserved respect in life and now she deserves dignity even in death," says Mimma Guardato, mother of little Fortuna Loffredo, known as Chicca, who was abused and killed at the age of six in 6 in Caivano's Parco Verde.
Ten years after that tragic event and the conviction of her murderers, she still doesn't have a grave. The little girl is actually buried in the Caivano cemetery, but at the time of the crime, the municipal administration had promised Chicca a special burial to remember her. "They promised me, ten years have passed and I'm still waiting," Mrs. Mimma comments bitterly.
Little Fortuna was first tortured and then thrown from a terrace by Raymond Caputo, a neighbor's partner, who was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder and sexual assault.

Mimma Guardato: "Children should be raised with love, respect, and healthy values."
On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, Mimma Guardato spoke out in an interview with the Agi news agency, saying: "Women should be loved and respected, not treated like property. Men should show love every day, not just on these special occasions.
And when we bring children into this world, we must raise them with love, respect, and wholesome values. These values must be taught from an early age, but how can we do that if at home they only see violence, yelling, and beatings?
For her, it is important to intervene in families to prevent tragedies like that of her daughter: "Children are a reflection of what they experience. If they grow up seeing only anger and pain, that's what they'll carry with them into their futures. I don't just want nice words; I want my daughter to be respected. I want the women and children here to have a different future. We can't let violence always win."

It is truly sad that after ten years there is still no grave for little Fortuna. Mom is right, she deserved respect in life and even more after death. The promises made must not be forgotten.
