The strangest aspect is that this immediate boom was achieved by relying only on pre-sales via the web, waiting for the exploit that could occur when the book is released in bookstores.

But what is this book about? You can read it in the introduction of 'Meglio Soli':

“It is a political manifesto, a cry of rebellion, a ruthless and well-explained analysis of the conditions of subordination in which Southern Italy finds itself. “Would you live in a country where the sick are forced to move continuously to seek treatment?

In a country where there are no daycare centers, full-time school canteens, trains, airports, and roads? Would you stay in a country where politicians and the media call you thieves of public resources, while the State itself, through its bodies delegated to audit accounts, certifies that you are the ones robbed of monstrous amounts every year, in favor of those who call you thieves?

Would you commit to protecting the integrity of a country where the resources sent by the European Union to reduce internal inequalities were spent in the richest areas, to increase the gap from the poorest ones? P

ino Aprile, author of the provocative “Terroni”, together with Luca Antonio Pepe, with a careful analysis of the real numbers and the accounting and legislative tricks of Italian bureaucracies, report a sample of state discrimination to the detriment of the “internal colony” of the economic (and therefore political) system built more than 160 years ago: Southern Italy, always, according to the authors, penalized, robbed and blamed.

In times when differentiated autonomy and regional power distribution are being discussed, this essay offers a completely revolutionary point of view, overturning the perspective through which the South is seen and perceived. “Better alone” is a political manifesto, as well as a very strong indictment against the dominant rhetoric”.
