Ercolano. They died on their first day of work at the illegal fireworks factory on the border between Ercolano and San Giorgio a Cremano. They were an 18-year-old of Albanian origin and two 26-year-old twin sisters, all residents of Marigliano.
The factory had practically opened its doors just today, and when the explosion occurred, the three boys were on break. Investigators have not yet released their identities. There is no official identification. Their bodies are battered, and only DNA testing will be able to confirm their identity.
"The police called us," Mrs. Anna Campagna - telling us that the fireworks factory where my 18-year-old son-in-law and two girls between 18 and 20, whom I don't know, were working had exploded. The police alerted us.
As far as we know, there were no other people inside the warehouse because my son-in-law called us at 13pm telling us that he was eating a sandwich with the two girls and that there were no other people with them.

the mayor of Herculaneum, Ciro Buonajuto, present at the site of the tragedy, specifies that the factory was completely illegal. "There is no record of any request for authorization, either to us or to any other authorities. Legality and compliance with the rules must be the primary consideration when conducting any activity."
Mayor Ercolano: "It's a terrible tragedy. You can't die like this."
Then he explained: "I found before me a scene of devastation and destruction, but also of immense pain. It matters little where the children lived; what breaks my heart is that young people cannot die like this. They used to make fireworks here, but if no permit requests have ever arrived, it means we must teach young people that the best path, even if the longest, is that of legality and respect for the rules, so that what happened tonight can never happen again."

Terrible tragedy, no one should lose their life so young. Let's hope that justice is done and that tragedies like this don't happen again.
What a terrible tragedy, it is really sad to think that these young people died so young.
I hope this tragic event will lead to a reflection on safety in the workplace and the importance of permits.
This situation highlights a serious problem regarding black labor and illegal factories. There must be stricter laws.
It is sad to know that young people lose their lives in such situations. More attention is needed from the authorities.
Unfortunately it is clear that safety is not a priority in certain places, we hope that after these incidents there will be more controls.
I don't understand how it is possible that an illegal factory can be opened without any control. It is truly tragic.
