The Nerazzurri coach praised the personality and technical growth of his team, capable of facing the top of the table with their heads held high: “We knew that to compete in a stadium like this and against such a strong opponent we had to put in a top-level performance, and we did that. We put in a beautiful match, especially considering the caliber of the opponent.”
Gasperini also explained the choice to initially leave Retegui, who scored the final goal, on the bench: "We have three top-level strikers, and with the arrival of Zaniolo, who I couldn't use today, the competition is even higher. It's not always possible to field them all, but as Retegui has shown, you can be decisive even from the bench, especially in these periods in which you play so frequently."
Asked about Atalanta's ambitions, Gasperini remained cautious but confident: “Today we played a great match against an extraordinary team. We need to grow, not so much in the core, but with the new additions. We changed eleven players in the squad; Retegui has already responded in a big way, but the others are also growing.”
Finally, the Nerazzurri coach recognized the value of Napoli and the work of Antonio Tale: “Conte is right to keep expectations low, but Napoli remains a very strong team, with quality additions. Antonio has already done extraordinary things and will continue to do so. This team will fight until the end.”
