Naples. The business of "enhanced" drones for prison transportation has proven to be extremely lucrative. The investigation into the Vanella Grassi clan of Secondigliano has revealed a highly specialized criminal organization capable of generating huge profits through a system of regular aerial deliveries.

With an estimated frequency of four to five flights a week, each delivery bringing in around €700, the monthly turnover easily exceeded €100.000. The "dronists," true black market pilots, were handsomely paid for their dangerous missions, becoming key players in this criminal network.

The money flowed into a bank account held by a front man and was subsequently cashed in and handed over to the Vanella Grassi crime family. This emerges from the investigation by the State Police, the SCO, and the SISCO, which today led to the issuance of 12 precautionary measures, the seizure of three kilograms of drugs, and about thirty cell phones.

Inside the prison, the demand for drugs and Cell It was extremely high. Inmates were willing to pay exorbitant prices to obtain these prohibited goods, guaranteeing a huge profit margin for the clan. A micro cell phone, worth a few dozen euros outside the prison, was resold inside the prison for prices up to fifteen times higher.

The investigation revealed a criminal organization capable of managing an entire supply chain: from drug production and purchase, to flight organization, distribution within prison, and laundering the proceeds of illicit activity. The proceeds from sales were funneled into bank accounts held by front men, then reinvested in other criminal activities or used to support clan members' luxurious lifestyles.

 Gratteri's warning: "Prisons are permeable."

The presence of cell phones in prison "undermines the precautionary measures that are served, and this investigation demonstrates that prisons are no longer containment structures," thus, essentially, it is no longer possible "to prevent the repetition of crimes."

This is the alarm raised by the coordinator of the Naples DDA, Rosa Volpe, and the Naples prosecutor, Nicola Gratteri, who, together with the head of the Naples Flying Squad, Giovanni Leuci, took part in a press conference at the prosecutor's office. Also present were Marco Garofalo, head of the Rome SCO, and Deputy Commissioner Massimiliano Russo, head of Sisco Napoli.

It is interesting to see how the drone business can be exploited for criminal activities, we hope that the authorities will be able to effectively combat these illegal practices.
