In memory of Eduardo De Filippo, Rai 5 will broadcast the famous comedy "Napoli Milionaria!", scheduled for Saturday, November 23rd at 21.15:40 PM. This initiative is part of a tribute to the great actor and playwright XNUMX years after his death.

History

The plot takes place during World War II. Gennaro Iovine is a man who reluctantly assists his wife Amalia in her black market dealings to support their family. The situation escalates when a raid is organized. To protect his wife from arrest, Gennaro plays dead, remaining motionless in bed even during the bombings. From that moment on, his tracks disappear.

The moral rebirth

At the end of the war, the Iovine family faces drastic changes: Amalia has become wealthy through illicit activities, her eldest daughter Maria Rosaria is pregnant with a child by a returning American soldier, and her son Amedeo is involved in tire theft. Gennaro unexpectedly returns and discovers that the poverty gripping his family is no longer economic, but moral. The situation comes to a head when his youngest daughter falls seriously ill. Only accountant Spasiano, distressed by Amalia's unethical dealings, possesses the life-saving drug. After initially refusing, Spasiano relents, allowing the family to redeem themselves and their daughter to recover. The cast includes Eduardo De Filippo, Regina Bianchi, and Carlo Lima. In 1977, the comedy inspired a musical composed by Nino Rota. The event aims to revive De Filippo's artistic legacy in the hearts of viewers.
