The Naples Sacred Music Festival continues its cultural journey with its fifth event, scheduled for Friday, November 29th at 19.30:XNUMX pm. The evocative Basilica of Santa Maria del Carmine Maggiore, with its fusion of Gothic and Baroque styles, will host the concert "Luce d'amor Divino." The evening's highlights will be contralto Candida Guida and organist Francesco Addabbo.
This festival, founded by Luigi Grima and the Discantus Association, is organized by the Il Canto di Virgilio Foundation in collaboration with the Archdiocese of Naples, with the support of the Department of Tourism and Productive Activities of the Municipality of Naples.
### Recording Project and Program
The concert is part of a recording project celebrating the Franciscan Eighth Centenary, recalling significant moments in the life of St. Francis. The musical selection was curated by the Luigi Guida Music Studies Center and emphasizes composers from the Sorrento Peninsula associated with the 20th-century Neapolitan school of music. Luigi Guida, in particular, is remembered for his role as a composer and teacher at the Pontano Institute in Naples, run by the Jesuits.
### Composers and Musical Tradition
Within the program, the works of Father Enrico Buondonno will stand out for their importance, thanks in part to his work as a professor of harmony at the San Pietro a Majella Conservatory and as director of the "Pueri Cantores di Santa Chiara" choir. Further interest will be aroused by the compositions of Francesco Veniero and Enrico Bottigliero, the latter famous for designing the majestic organ at the Carmine Maggiore in Naples. Another significant contribution will be made by the tester Marco Enrico Bossi, who left an indelible mark on the city's musical history. These composers have enriched Naples, and beyond, with an exceptionally valuable musical legacy.
