A risky weekend and disruption for train travelers. A 21-hour national rail strike begins tomorrow evening at 24:XNUMX PM, continuing until the same time on Sunday, called by the independent unions. The protest will involve "all staff of companies operating in the railway sector," according to the USB union, which also includes FS, Italo, and Trenord.

"The strike could have a significant impact on rail traffic and lead to total or partial cancellations of Trenitalia's Frecce, Intercity, and Regional trains," FS warns. The consequences, in terms of cancellations and delays, "may occur even before and extend beyond the end of the union protest." The group therefore urges passengers to "inquire before going to the station and, if possible, reschedule their journey."

This weekend's strike "is part of the dispute over the renewal of the national railway contract, being pursued by a broad coalition of grassroots organizations," explains the USB. However, after this strike, trains will not be affected by the CGIL and UIL general strike scheduled for Friday, November 29th. Aside from rail transport, the strike will involve all other transport personnel: air, maritime, bus, tram, and trolleybus.

And the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Matteo Salvini, once again intervened on next Friday's protest. Salvini"If the guaranteed time slots are not respected, I will intervene directly with working time restrictions and, if necessary, requisitioning," he reiterated. "The right to strike is sacrosanct, but equally sacred is the right to work of all other Italians who do not strike," the minister emphasized, prompting a swift response from CGIL leader Maurizio Landini. The November 29 strike "will guarantee the minimum services required by law.

"I don't know what he's talking about," Salvini said. "He's calling into question the right to strike because we've respected the law, so there's absolutely no need to order anything," Landini said, who will be at the demonstration in Bologna on Friday. On the same day, UIL leader Pierpaolo Bombardieri will be in Naples.
