Giuseppe Cipriano, one of the four men subjected to precautionary measures in the investigation into the murder of Mayor Angelo Vassallo, appeared today before the investigating judge of the Court of Salerno, Annamaria Ferraiolo, for the preliminary hearing.
The 59-year-old entrepreneur, assisted by the lawyer Giovanni Annunziata, answered all the questions for an hour and forty minutes, rejecting all the accusations and reiterating his non-involvement in the contested facts. Cipriano had already provided his version in 2018, during a previous interrogation.
"When looking at this investigation in more detail, it seems clear that there are weaknesses in the motivation," declared the lawyer Annunziata.

According to the defense, the lack of specific evidence on the suspects' connection to drug trafficking makes the motivation tenuous, an aspect that will be central during the trial.
Furthermore, Annunziata stressed that, despite 14 years of investigations, no concrete results have emerged, relying almost exclusively on statements, sometimes coming from subjects already considered unreliable. Cyprian, says the lawyer, "He was always clear and available in explaining his lack of involvement in the facts." The defense will appeal the order to the Review Court.
