Last week was the worst week of the year for pedestrians in Italy: 18 road fatalities, including three cases of hit-and-run, brought the total number of deaths since the beginning of the year to 387, including 261 men and 126 women. The grim statistic, released by the Sapidata-Asaps Observatory, highlights a worrying figure: 209 of the victims were people over the age of 65, representing 54% of the total.
Unfortunately, the report does not take into account the seriously injured, who often lose their lives in hospitals even months later.
