The Prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, has requested immediate action, including temporary solutions, to ensure the lighting of Piazza Plebiscito. The request was made during a meeting at the Prefecture on the implementation of the "Piazza Plebiscito Enhancement Agreement." The objective of the agreement is to improve the decor of the site, the colonnade, the underground spaces, and the premises of the Fondo Edifici di Culto (Church Buildings Fund), through maintenance, restoration, and diffused lighting.

The meeting was attended, in addition to the prefect, by Massimiliano Marzo and Mario Parlagreco for the State Property Agency, Rosalia D'Apice for the Archaeological, Fine Arts and Landscape Superintendency of Naples, and representatives of the The municipality of Naples.

In a statement released by the prefecture, the prefect emphasized the importance of respecting the responsibilities and deadlines established by the agreement.

On the lighting front, the State Property Agency has announced that the lighting project will be completed within the next year.

Meanwhile, municipal officials reported that they have already restored 14 floor lights in front of the Royal Palace, and that the eight lights near the equestrian statues will be reactivated before the Christmas holidays. Furthermore, to improve the illumination of the colonnade, the internal lights have been reversed, the bulbs replaced, and the 8 floodlights on the six poles in the square have been renewed. Further improvements to the lighting system are planned, with new floodlights.

Regarding the restoration of the monumental complex, the State Property Agency has announced that, following a competitive tender, the professional responsible for designing the works has been identified, which will be carried out in functional phases.

The initiative aims to restore the square to the decorum and functionality it deserves, in keeping with the site's importance to the city of Naples and its cultural heritage.
