As revealed by the official trailer and poster just released, Piedone – uno sbirro a Napoli is the new crime drama set in the streets of Naples, produced by Sky Original. The series, which will star Salvatore Esposito, Silvia D'Amico and Fabio Balsamo under the direction of Alessio Maria Federici, will be broadcast starting from Monday 2 December on Sky Cinema Uno and available for streaming only on Now.
Piedone – uno sbirro a Napoli is a production of Sky Studios, Wildside (a Fremantle group company) and Titanus Production (Titanus group). The series consists of four episodes with Salvatore Esposito (known for Gomorra – The series, Fargo, Spaccapietre) in the role of Vincenzo Palmieri, a police inspector who follows in the footsteps of the legendary commissioner Rizzo, played by Bud Spencer in the 1973 film.
Silvia D'Amico (known for Christian, Comandante, There's No Place Like Home – The Series) plays Commissioner Sonia Ascarelli, head of the police detachment at the port of Naples, while Fabio Balsamo (from Beata te, Generazione 56k, Pesci piccoli) is deputy inspector Michele Noviello.
The director is Alessio Maria Federici (Non ci resta che il crimine – The series, (Im)perfetti Criminali, Generazione 56K). The story was created by Salvatore Esposito, Giuseppe Pedersoli, Peppe Fiore, Laura Grimaldi, Paolo Piccirillo and Jacopo Sonnino, with the screenplay written by Peppe Fiore, Laura Grimaldi, Paolo Piccirillo and Jacopo Sonnino.
For Vincenzo Palmieri, returning to Naples means coming to terms with the past. As a student of the famous Commissioner Rizzo, known as Piedone, he will have to earn the trust of his new team and prove that his unconventional methods are the key to solving cases in a multifaceted city like Naples
. Commissioner Sonia Ascarelli, a determined policewoman very different from him, will put a spoke in his wheels. Between one investigation and another, with twists and moments of hilarity, Vincenzo will try to make peace with his ghosts in a city that always has something to teach.
