Pompeii. This morning, operations began to remove 45 illegal kiosks and gazebos located outside the archaeological excavations, in the so-called "souk." This operation follows the seizures carried out just over a month ago by the Carabinieri of the Oplontina branch, on orders from the Torre Annunziata Prosecutor's Office, and the rejection of the appeals filed by the affected merchants by the Naples Court of Appeal.
The structures, positioned along the path from the Villa dei Misteri to the Sanctuary square, represented a chaotic and illegal market, leaning against the main entrances to the archaeological area.
