Edmondo Cirielli, Deputy Foreign Minister and a leading figure in Campania politics, opens up to the possibility of a candidacy for governor of Campania, but without forcing it. "I agreed to participate as requested by regional coordinator Antonio Iannone, and rightly so. I'm a man of the land, but also a government official who is doing his duty.", he declared on the sidelines of the book presentation "Why Italy is right-wing" by Italo Bocchino.
Cirielli then added: "If needed, I'd be happy to help. I already have experience as a local administrator, I love my region, and I'd be happy to contribute." However, he clarified that this is not an imminent decision: "We haven't even started discussing next year's Campania regional candidate yet. I'm confident that, once we've addressed the issue, we'll definitely be able to find a solution very quickly. The choice is up to the coalition."
Cirielli, future in the Region?
Despite the expressed availability, Cirielli underlines the importance of his current role as Deputy Foreign Minister, in a particularly complex historical moment. "I will not jostle to be a candidate - he precised - I really enjoy what I do. I have a crucial role to play in a challenging international context, with two wars underway. I believe it's essential to continue to contribute in this role."
The possibility of a candidacy for the leadership of the Campania Region is not excluded. "If the circumstances are right and I'm called to this experience, I'd definitely be proud of it.", concluded Cirielli, leaving open the possibility of a future direct commitment in his homeland.

Cirielli was right to say that he doesn't want to force things, but we need to see if he really wants to be governor or just talk. His experience as an administrator is important, but in politics there are always many complications. I hope the coalition finds a quick solution, but I'm not sure it will be easy.
