Salerno. Ten thousand euros, the savings of a lifetime, vanished into thin air because of a young con artist who seems to be the last link in a well-organized criminal chain, ready to strike when success is almost certain.
It happened Saturday morning in Salerno. The victim is an elderly woman and the method used is the same as other similar scams: a phone call from a self-styled lawyer, who scares her by telling dramatic scenarios but constructed with such anxiety and precision that they seem plausible, especially for those who are alone and worried about their loved ones. Everything happens in a few minutes, without the victim having time to reflect or do a check.
La fraud It begins with a phone call: a man pretending to be a lawyer informs the old woman that her son has had a serious car accident, and to defend him she must immediately pay 15.000 euros, so as to avoid further legal consequences. The false lawyer warns that a representative will shortly come to collect the money.
At 13:10.000 p.m., the intercom rings, followed by the doorbell. The woman, frightened, opens the door and finds herself faced with a young man, who introduces himself as the lawyer's emissary. She explains to him that she only has XNUMX euros available, and he, although reluctant, pretends to accept.
The scammer takes the money and leaves. Only later does the woman contact her son to verify the situation, discovering that she has been defrauded. The police are immediately contacted, and a patrol from the Flying Squad arrives at the old woman's home to collect her testimony and try to trace the perpetrators. The investigation is ongoing, starting both from the description of the young emissary and from the analysis of the telephone records of the house.
