Naples. Mafia boss Salvatore Barbato, 56, a member of the Moccia clan, was transferred overnight to Cardarelli Hospital in Naples after being fatally wounded in an ambush last night on Via Salvo D'Acquisto in Casoria.
Barbato, known as 'Totore or dog', is in very serious condition. Doctors are waiting to operate on him because he was hit by a bullet in a lung, while three others hit him in other less vital parts of the body.
While his bodyguard Mauro Sorrentino, 40 years old, was treated and then discharged from the Villa dei Fiori clinic where he had been taken yesterday evening, having been grazed on the wrist and arm.
The Carabinieri, who are conducting the investigation, have already questioned him but the injured man was not very cooperative and said he did not see who fired the gun.
The boss and the bodyguard sought refuge in an apartment building
But investigators are convinced that he is not telling the truth because both he and Barbato, the killers' real target, fled, seeking shelter in an apartment building whose front door was hit by numerous bullets.
The scenario in which the investigators are moving is that of a clash between the new recruits of the Casoria Camorra and the group of old ones Moccia to whom Barbato has always been linked.

it's strange that the bodyguard didn't see anything, usually those who are close to a person like Barbato know something. let's hope the carabinieri find the right information.
