In the varied galaxy of Italian pizzeria prices, Sassari stands out as the most expensive city. A recent survey by Altroconsumo, based on Istat data, revealed that on average a meal in a pizzeria, including a drink, cover charge and service, reaches 14,11 euros in the Sardinian capital.
### Variable Prices in Northern Cities
Other urban centers rank just below Sassari. In Bolzano, the average price is €13,90, followed by Milan at €13,50 and Venice at €13,47. This isn't a new trend, as these cities were already at the top of the ranking last year. However, the average figures hide significant differences within cities. In Milan, for example, you can eat a pizza for between €8 and €19,50, while in Venice the price varies from €10,50 to €24. Trento exhibits a similar price range, ranging from €8,70 to €18,80.
### Cost Differences in Central and Southern Italy
Moving towards the center and south, the situation changes. In Perugia and Pescara, for example, the price differences are much more limited, with a variation of only 2 euros. Livorno emerges as the cheapest with an average cost of 8,67 euros. Among the southern cities, Naples and three other cities manage to keep the average price under 10 euros.
### Price Increases and Trends
Overall, Altroconsumo's survey indicates that the average cost of a pizzeria meal has increased by 4% compared to September 2023, with increases of 9% compared to two years ago and 16% compared to 2021. Despite the changes, Perugia and Livorno are the only two cities that have seen a decrease in average costs over the past year. These data underscore how the restaurant market continues to fluctuate, influenced by a myriad of economic and local factors.
