Naples. The Court of Review, on appeal, ordered the release of Massimiliano DiCaprio, 49, previously held under a precautionary measure on charges of being a money launderer for the Contini clan.
The investigation concerned the acquisition of the historic pizzeria “Dal Presidente”, located in the Decumani of Naples, also famous for having welcomed former US President Bill Clinton during the G7, where he enjoyed a margherita a portafoglio.
For Di Caprio's wife, Deborah Capasso, 47, the Court confirmed the obligation to sign. The decision comes following the ruling of the Court of Cassation, which had annulled the previous provision considering the connection between the spouses and the Camorra clan not sufficiently proven.
“The Court of Cassation has noted the absence of concrete evidence demonstrating the link between Di Caprio, Capasso and the Camorra”, stated theLawyer Fabio Visco, lawyer of the two defendants.
The judicial process had seen the Court of Appeal confirm, a few months ago, the prison sentence for Say Caprio and house arrest for the wife Deborah CapassoThe two were arrested last May 14, with the simultaneous seizure of movable and immovable assets and the pizzeria, for an estimated total value of 3,5 million euros.
