Four Avellino fans have been hit by measures of Daspo issued by the Vicenza Police Chief following the incidents that occurred last June 2 during the match between Vicenza and Avellino, valid for the Serie C play-offs. The agents of the Avellino Police Headquarters have notified the restrictive measures, which provide for different limitations depending on the degree of involvement of the interested parties.
Three fans have been banned from accessing stadiums and sports facilities throughout the country for a period of three years. A fourth fan, believed to be most involved in the clashes, was hit by a Daspo ten years with further restrictions: for the next eight years, will have to show up at the Police Headquarters with the obligation to sign during Avellino matches, both home and away.
The incident underscores the authorities' hard line in combating violence linked to sporting events. Daspo, Short for Access Prohibition to Sports Events, is a tool that aims to prevent the repetition of behaviors that are dangerous for public safety.
