Carabinieri from the NAS in Naples, in a joint raid with colleagues from Torre Annunziata and the ASL Napoli 2 Nord, raided the walls of a private building in Striano. Inside, a veritable clandestine slaughterhouse was discovered, where beef and pork were cut and processed in appallingly hygienic conditions.
The illegal activity, aimed at producing the famous "o' pere eo' musso", a typical Neapolitan street food intended for street vending in public areas, took place in dirty and waste-infested environments, using rusty and totally inadequate equipment. meat, lacking any traceability and potentially dangerous for public health, were stored in conditions that represented a serious health risk.
The police raid led to the seizure of three tons of meat and the immediate closure of the plant, which lacked any authorization or production certification. The total value of the seized material is estimated at approximately €400.
The investigation is ongoing, but the administrative fines already imposed exceed €50. This incident raises serious questions about food safety and the need to intensify controls to combat the phenomenon of illegal food trade.
