Local Police officers from the Scampia Unit in Naples responded promptly, averting a tragedy following the explosion of a gas stove in an apartment on Via del Plebiscito in Piscinola, located on the top floor of a building.
Alerted by a citizen who had reported a fire nearby, the officers quickly arrived on the scene.

And they managed to save a elderly 91-year-old man and a 76-year-old woman, living on the lower floor, both in panic. They managed to get them out just before the explosion, coming out unharmed.
After a few minutes the 8/B Scampia team arrived Fire fighters, who extinguished the flames. Initial investigations revealed that the fire and subsequent explosion were caused by the gas heater found by firefighters that had exploded inside the apartment.
