Pasquale Punzo, 38 years old, will remain in prison. The investigating judge of Napoli validated the arrest issued by the Naples prosecutor's office, confirming the charge of multiple voluntary homicide with eventual intent, possession and manufacturing of unconventional explosive material, in addition to the crime of gangmastering. Punzo is considered responsible for the tragic explosion that occurred on November 18 in a house on Via Patacca, transformed into an illegal fireworks factory.
The explosion, of devastating violence, caused the death of three young people: Sara and Aurora Esposito, 26-year-old twins, and Samuel Tafciu, 18, of Albanian origins. Their bodies are currently undergoing autopsy at the Second Polyclinic of Naples, where forensic tests will have to clarify the dynamics and causes of death.
The incident has deeply shaken the community of Herculaneum, not only for the loss of human lives, but also for the conditions in which the clandestine factory operated, in violation of all safety regulations. The investigation, led by public prosecutors Stella Castaldo and Vincenzo Toscano, aims to shed full light on Punzo's responsibilities and on any accomplices in organizing a highly dangerous and completely illegal activity.
