Ercolano. The search is underway for the owner of a house converted into an illegal firecracker factory on Via Patacca, on the border between Ercolano and San Giorgio a Cremano, where an explosion occurred yesterday afternoon, killing three young men on their first day of work.
The fireworks were being prepared for the upcoming New Year's Eve. The victims are Samuel Tacifu, 18 years old of Albanian origins but resident in Ponticelli where he lived with the family of his partner Minirenne with whom he had a son 4 months ago.
The other two victims are the 26-year-old twin sisters from Margliano, Sara Esposito and Aurora Esposito. The first was the mother of a 4-year-old girl. All three of the very young victims needed to work to support their families. That's why they had accepted that illegal job.
Yesterday was their first day of work which turned into a tragedy during the lunch break that house transformed into illegal factory of barrels.

Two others are still on site.
The mayor of Ercolano: "Didn't anyone know? Three young lives could have been saved."
The mayor of Ercolano, Ciro Buonajuto, interviewed this morning by the Campania regional news program, revealed that he was waiting for authorization from the prosecutor's office to conduct a forced search of that apartment because the owner had forbidden the local police from entering in recent weeks.
But the mayor asked himself: "Is it possible that none of the neighbors knew about the existence of that illegal factory? Why weren't reports made? We would have prevented the deaths of three young people."

It's really sad that no one reported that illegal factory before. Poor young people, they were only on their first day of work.
It is truly a tragedy, we hope that all the necessary investigations will be carried out to understand what happened and to prevent similar accidents from happening again.
It's really sad that these things happen, the victims were very young and I hope the owner is found. I don't understand how anyone could work in those dangerous conditions. It's time to do something to stop these illegal factories, because safety must come first.
