To ensure the safety and flow of visitors during the Christmas season, Naples is reintroducing a one-way pedestrian zone on Via San Gregorio Armeno, the famous street of nativity scenes. The ordinance, signed by Mayor Gaetano Manfredi, will be in effect on weekends from November 29th to December 24th, from 9:20 am to 24:9 pm (and on December 14th from 19:23 am to XNUMX:XNUMX pm), as well as from Thursday, December XNUMXth to Monday, December XNUMXrd, during the same time slot.
The one-way pedestrian system will extend from the intersection with Via San Biagio dei Librai to Piazza San Gaetano. This measure, adopted for several years during the Christmas season, aims to "ensure public and private safety" in an area characterized by narrow streets and no sidewalks, where the risk of crowding can jeopardize traffic, including that of emergency vehicles.
While some shopkeepers would prefer alternating one-way traffic, most agree that this measure is necessary, especially on weekends. Vincenzo Capuano, president of the Botteghe di San Gregorio Armeno, emphasizes that one-way traffic is essential to avoid chaos, especially on peak days like the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.

the one-way pedestrian in naples is a good thing for safety, but some merchants do not agree and would prefer another system. I hope it works well and that visitors can enjoy the Christmas traditions without problems. More attention is needed to avoid crowds, especially on weekends.
