The Guardia di Finanza of Naples has dismantled a large criminal organization dedicated to the illegal production of cigarettes.
In an operation conducted in the industrial area of Benevento, finance police discovered a veritable clandestine factory, seizing over 27 tons of processed tobacco, industrial machinery, millions of filters and empty packs, as well as 75 kg of cigarettes ready to be sold under the Marlboro and Rothmans brands.
The investigation, which lasted several months, led to the identification and dismantling of a criminal organization that was producing counterfeit cigarettes on a large scale, diverting significant government resources and endangering the health of consumers.
