Castelvenere. It was a terrifying night for Mayor Alessandro Di Santo, who came face-to-face with four intruders in his home. The incident, which occurred overnight, saw the mayor, a doctor by profession, take courageous action that drove the criminals away.
It was around 2:30 when the mayor, still recovering from a recent eye operation and resting on the ground floor of his villa, noticed a strange presence. Four men were forcing a window. Without hesitation, Di Santo went to confront them, starting a violent fight.
Meanwhile, alerted by the screams, the mayor's wife and one of his daughters rushed to his aid and immediately contacted the police"Those were moments of terror," Di Santo said, still shaken by the incident. "I was shot several times in the chest, but I managed to hold off the thieves until my daughter grabbed the rifle. At that point, the thieves fled in a car."
Despite his injuries, the mayor emphasized the prompt response of the Carabinieri. "They arrived immediately after our call," he said.
The episode deeply shocked the community of Castelvenere, which expressed solidarity and admiration for the courage shown by their mayor. Di Santo, who is hospitalized for tests, thanked everyone who supported him during these difficult times.
